Our
History

I am a co-owner of a comprehensive event design and party rental company based in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. It gives me immense pride to be a part of a business that is entirely black-owned and operated, alongside my husband. We have made significant progress in managing our company and are dedicated to further expanding our presence in the region. However, we have encountered challenges in pursuing our growth objectives, particularly in accessing crucial information such as grants, funding, and resources that would bolster our upward trajectory. Consequently, I have conducted thorough research within the midstate area and identified a notable scarcity of easily accessible resources specifically tailored for black-owned businesses like ours. This realization has shed light on the grave disparity that exists within our community. As individuals from the African Diaspora, residing in the United States presents inherent challenges, let alone running a thriving business. This experience has reinforced our belief in the importance of facilitating access to services for businesses and individuals of African descent within the Diaspora. We remain resolute in our commitment to seeking out these resources and services to support the growth and success not only of our own company but also of others in a similar position.

Our Mission

Our mission is to empower Africans in the Diaspora to rise, lead, and belong—by connecting them to knowledge, networks, and opportunities that transform lives and communities. We advocate for inclusion, representation, and equitable access across every sector of society, ensuring African immigrants have a visible voice in shaping policies and progress in their adopted home.

Headquartered in Central Pennsylvania, ADI collaborates with civic, business, and educational partners to drive change through education, mentorship, advocacy, and enterprise development. We are committed to cultivating a supportive and inclusive environment where Africans in the Diaspora can thrive, achieve their full potential, and make meaningful contributions to the region’s economic and cultural vitality.

Our Vision

We envision a world where Africans in the Diaspora are fully recognized, empowered, and celebrated—a world where every African voice matters, every contribution counts, and every dream has a place to grow. ADI strives to build a vibrant, globally connected community where Africans can network, collaborate, and lead with purpose.

We believe in the power of identity, diversity, and shared heritage to strengthen society and inspire the next generation of innovators and change-makers. Through our work, we are shaping a future where Africans in the Diaspora not only succeed individually, but collectively influence global conversations on equity, development, and cultural unity.
